Rocky has been adopted and is now enjoying his family in Marin County.
Here's his story: Rocky is a 2 to 2 1/2 year old, 7 1/2 to 8lb red Pomeranian who arrived at the shelter with a badly broken pelvis and hip. The shelter thought they should remove his hind leg, but opted to put him in a foster home for a few weeks instead while they pursued rescue options for him. A Leg Up Rescue worked closely with the shelter to transfer him into our program, and his foster parents decided to foster him until he finds his permanent home. His foster mom reports he is doing great. He was examined by our orthopedic specialist who called Rocky "the little miracle dog." He said that Rocky's xray images show injuries that are so severe he should not be walking, but Rocky doesn't believe it. His foster mom says he doesn't know he's injured at all! He is a playful, great little dog who is good with cats - he loves to follow her cats around and will follow them all over the house and yard!
